This original Victorian-era silhouette depicts a gentleman in classic 19th-century profile and is believed to date to the late 1800s. The reverse of the frame bears handwritten provenance identifying the subject as Edward Peebles Stanfield (1842–1934) of South Bend, Indiana, adding historical and genealogical interest.

The piece was professionally reframed in June 1982 by Osborne Picture Framing Co., Inc. using rag-protected (acid-free) materials, helping preserve the artwork for long-term display.
