Leeds Pottery Snow White figurine (1949)

Snow White ceramic figure (6.5" tall) by Leeds Pottery - from 1949. Leeds had the license to make Disney characters from the mid-40s to mid-50s, and the large Snow White is one of the most sought-after. This Snow White ceramic figurine is painted in beautiful shades of pastel yellow, blue, and red. Earlier pieces were painted over the glaze, and the paint frequently flaked off. Later pieces like this one were airbrushed with lighter pastel colors under glaze. These remain in excellent condition. Since the lighter pastel colors under glaze were created in fewer numbers, they are more rare. There are no cracks, chips or repairs, and no loss of paint. There is a very small amount of crazing on her skirt which is inevitable with pieces of this age. Leeds made two very similar Snow White figurines, which were a bank (coin slot in her side) and a planter, but this is the straight-up figurine.
