next generation, I voted against the Administration's
recent request for an additional S6 billion increase in the debt limit.
The
debt now stands at well over $330 billion, with the limit raised $43 billion in
the last six years.
Annual interest pavments alone on this obligation now
cost the taxpayers more than $l4 billion each year.
This is the
second
largest cost item in the budget.
