This Vintage Crown Grace Lighter is from a by-gone Mid-Century era when it was so cool and chic to smoke. Everyone carried a lighter. This one was marketed to the classy ladies that would enjoy a puff every now and again.
This Crown Grace lighter stands at about 3 inches tall by 1 inch wide. Made of brass, it has a nice heft to it. Whats interesting about it most, is the lack of an obvious striker wheel or push igniter. Most who see this lighter think that the “button” looking square on the shaft of the lighter is the igniter button. It is NOT.
This is actually a small window that lifts when the lighter is placed between two fingers and squeezed, revealing the flame. This is where its nickname “squeeze lighter” comes from. It’s an interesting mechanism, and I’d argue a more feminine way to light a cigarette. Further emphasizing its feminine appeal is its uncanny resemblance to a lipstick tube, thus earning its other nickname “lipstick lighter”. This is a must have for any collector
