Beautiful midcentury matched pair of translucent amber celluloid or early acetate hair combs with sculpted butterfly motifs.
Each piece was made from a single wide comb base that was factory-cut into two smaller combs, then fitted with separately molded butterflies -- a distinctive U.S. manufacturing technique of the 1940s-50s.
